Arrecife Airport (ACE)
Lanzarote’s popularity as a holiday destination is well illustrated by the fact that the island’s sole airport, Arrecife (ACE) is the 9th busiest in all of Spain, handling over 5.5 million passengers annually.
The airport however is not in fact located in Arrecife – which is the islands capital – but some 3km away, in an area known locally as Guacimeta. Close to the islands main holiday resort of Puerto del Carmen.
The airport comprises two main terminals – Terminal 2 for internal flights to mainland Spain and the other islands in the Canarian archipelago. And Terminal One which deals with all flights to Lanzarote from non-Spanish nations. The majority of which originate in the UK, as Britain is Lanzarote´s most important tourist market. Use one of the flight comparison services to get a cheap flight to Arrecife Airport, Lanzarote.
International flight departures are based on the upper floor of Terminal 2 and arrivals on the lower floor.
Transport Links
The bulk of tourists are transported to and from Arrecife airport on board coaches organised by their tour operators. There is a public bus service which runs to the airport from the capital Arrecife. Alternatively visitors use taxis to transport themselves – which are readily available just outside the doors of the arrivals hall in Terminal One.
A number of local Lanzarote car hire companies also have desks in the main arrivals hall.
