Hotels in Lanzarote
There´s an excellent range of hotels in Lanzarote for tourists to select from. Encompassing every type of establishment from budget apart hotels through to full blown five star luxury accommodation.
The bulk of the islands hotels are located in the three main holiday resorts of Playa Blanca, Puerto del Carmen and Costa Teguise. But there is also a growing crop of chic rural hotels – that combine traditional architecture with modern facilities and amenities.
Hotels in Playa Blanca
The bulk of the best hotels are located in the islands newest resort of Playa Blanca – located at the southern tip of the island. Where a favourable micro climate has attracted some of Spain´s largest hotel groups, such as H10 and Sol Melia. And good quality hotels now line the seafront of the resort – from the Papagayo Arena in the west through to the Rubicon Palace in the east.
The sole five star hotel in Playa Blanca is the Sol Melia groups Gran Volcan – which is located next to the relatively new Rubicon Marina. The hotels main atrium has been designed to resemble the cone of a volcano, whilst the accommodation is grouped in blocks all loosely styled around one of Lanzarote´s many picturesque villages. Prices start from €120 per night.
Hotels in Puerto del Carmen
Despite the fact that Puerto del Carmen is the largest resort in Lanzarote it is only served by two main four star hotels. As the bulk of tourist beds are accounted for here by apartment complexes and apart hotels.
The Hotel Los Fariones is arguable the best situated of the two, as it is located right in the heart of the resort on the cusp of the Old and New Towns and in close proximity to the atmospheric harbour area, with it´s wealth of bars and restaurants.
The San Antonio Hotel is located at the other end of Puerto del Carmen´s beachfront strip, the Avenida de las Playas. In the direction of Los Pocillos and Matagorda – and is hence the quieter and more peaceful option of the two. Although the resort centre remains just a short five minute walk away.
Like the Los Fariones the San Antonio occupies seafront position and has a decent strip of beach – but this isn’t quite as well sheltered from the wind, which is something of a feature of the weather in Lanzarote.
Hotels in Costa Teguise
Costa Teguise was created around the anchor of the Gran Melia Salinas. Still widely regarded as the best five star hotel on the island. Which was developed under the aegis of the island born artist César Manrique. Who was responsible for the creation of the hotels breathtaking internal gardens and pool area.
The Gran Melia may have faded a little since its glory days in the 1980´s but its still a stylish accommodation option – as the hotels walls are adorned with original artworks by Manrique himself.
