The introduction of the Euro has made everything a little more expensive. The Canary Island however has managed to hold their status as a zone of free trade. Some goods have remained cheaper than others. For example, products like alcohol, cigarettes, jewellery, electronic goods and perfumes are cheaper compared to other EU countries.
The major resorts in Lanzarote have their own shopping complexes that sell clothes of the latest trends and brands. There are number of designer shops that sell clothes exclusive to their respective brands. The small exclusive boutiques are popular among the tourists. The rules regarding importing items of personal use to other EU countries are a bit more rigid. For example you are allowed only 1 litre of alcohol, 200 cigarettes and 2 liters of wine when travelling to other EU countries.
The Arrecife is the islands most popular shopping area. At the Calle Leon y Castillo resort there are plenty of side street shops. At this particular place one can find shops and various bazaars that sell everything one can think about. Shopping here is very popular because everything is reasonable and cheap. At this resort the prices are lower than other major resorts. The Saturday morning markets sell traditional goods; these goods can also be bought at the shops of the artisans. The fans of Manrique have a reason to be happy. His designer collection is sold at Tienda Fundacion Cesar Manrique. One can find this particular outlet in the Calle Jose Betancourt.
In the villages of this island there are shops that sell locally made craft items. For example items like baskets, pots, jewellery and works of embroidery. Casa-Museu del Campesino is a well known place to buy such craft items. In Teguise one can shop for traditional gifts. This place is well known for its flea market that is held every Sunday. Woven goods like straw hats are available in Yaiza and Tinajo. There are other items that are perfect souvenirs.
Nightlife in Lanzarote
The night life at Lanzarote is not as busy when compared to other places. But it is lively nevertheless. The nightlife is cheap and within everybody’s budget. The southern coast bustles with action all night. The Arrecife is a place that everybody should visit to experience nightlife in Lazarote. This place thrives with bars and restaurants. One can enjoy the company of people belonging to different age groups. Music of all types is played in these bars and restaurants. The most famous places are located at Calle Jose Antonio. Out of the trendiest places is the La Naos which can be found at Avenida de Naos. Costa Teguise also has good restaurants and pubs near the Toca Shopping Center. The bars and pubs open after 11pm and close when last of the customers leave in the erarly hours of morning.
